did i mention i couldn't sleep at all that night in león?
a combination of uncomfortable temperatures, jet lag
loud mumbling from a passed out chris, and ginseng pills from jon.
when i finally fell asleep in the early morning twilight,
i was suddenly awoken by what sounded like an air raid siren,
followed by a steady barrage of firecrackers,
and then a marching band.
later that morning, we wandered the streets and discovered the firecrackers were set
in remembrance of a historical attack on the town and cathedral.
these guys were lighting them right during mass.
it was so loud, you could hear the car alarms going off for blocks.
