granada is located west of lake nicaragua and north of volcán mombacho.
20,000 years ago, volcán mombacho blew its top and created 365 islands in the lake
which are now inhabited by locals and wealthy nicaraguans and foreigners.
we decided to do the touristy thing and hired a guide to take us on a tour of the lake and las isletas.
