granada was a surprise to me.
i arrived in nicaragua thinking i would spend my days in san juan del sur.
but granada was where my trip began and granada is where i felt at home.
the city wasn't anything glorious, but it was just comfortable.
parque central, the small shops, delicious places to eat and friendly restaurant owners
are just a few of the things i remember fondly.
our daily routine was to wake up and go eat breakfast at kathy's waffle house.
where i'd order a dish for 50 cordobas or less (~$3 US)
which would consist of gallo pinto (YUM!), eggs, bacon and toast.
oh, and i'd get a fresh fruit smoothie. jamba juice has nothing on nicaraguan smoothies.
i never met sandy or kathy actually. nor did i eat any of her waffles.
el tercer ojo has amazing gazpacho
is owned by genius painter, jean marc calvet
